New European tachograph legislation will change how international express van transport is planned. Starting July 1, 2026, light commercial vehicles weighing between 2.5 and 3.5 tonnes used for international transport or cabotage will be subject to smart tachograph requirements and rules regarding driving and rest times.

This change will directly impact timelines, costs, vehicle availability, and the design of urgent solutions, particularly for long-distance international routes. Shipments that could previously be carried out more continuously will now have to account for mandatory breaks, rest periods, and increased operational oversight.

For customers, this means that choosing the right solution will be even more important. In some cases, maintaining maximum urgency may require smaller vehicles, two drivers, or special solutions. In others, it will make sense to opt for dedicated, secure, and direct services, but with transit times adjusted to the new legal reality.

Alfaloc is preparing its response to this transformation with a specialized team in international express transport, operations, procurement, pricing, and communication. The goal is to continue guaranteeing tailored, secure solutions that fit the real urgency of each shipment.

With over 30 years of experience in urgent and specialized services, Alfaloc views this change as an opportunity to reinforce its role as a specialized partner capable of transforming legal complexity into clear, reliable solutions tailored to client needs.
