On the 16th, we were at an event that marks a 1st special time:
the first time that Alfaloc participates in the “Polytechnic of Leiria + Industry” protocol.
On the one hand, companies face difficulties in recruiting skilled labor. On the other hand, educational institutions need real industry problems, such as case studies, to challenge students, teachers and researchers. These are just two of the situations that, with the creation of this protocol, can be effectively resolved.
Thus, the “Polytechnic of Leiria + Industry” protocol was created to promote the approximation between students, teachers, researchers and companies in the region. In this regard, three institutions cooperate with each other to ensure continued success:
- CEFAMOL – National Association of the Mold Industry
- Polytechnic of Leiria
- NERLEI – Business Association of the Leiria Region
According to a source from NERLEI, “the actions developed in collaboration with the companies are materialized around three main dimensions:
- Training in a Business Context, which involves hosting curricular and extracurricular internships, carrying out applied work and visits to companies;
- Knowledge Sharing and Valorization, including the organization of seminars and workshops with the participation of companies, as well as meetings, provision of differentiating R&D services and the development of joint projects;
- Social Responsibility, involving the attribution of scholarships to the best students, encouraging school success and employability, as well as other forms of social support.”
On this last point, a significant evolution of the protocol can be observed. In this 7th edition, 39 companies in the region are supporting 53 students through Bachelor’s degree scholarships.
Additionally, for the first time, the protocol was expanded to include Master’s scholarships, through the “Masters + Innovation” program.
However, here, two companies have asserted their participation: Lusiaves and Alfaloc.
In this 2019/2020 school year, Alfaloc will provide financial support
- one of the best students in the Bachelor of Arts in Marketing
- and a Master’s student in Computer Engineering, with the Mobile Computing strand, to develop a project together with Alfaloc’s IT team.
